The Land of High Mountains
Tour of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan: Issyk Kul Lake, Tien Shan and Pamir Mountains,
Base Camp of Lenin Peak and Adventure Off-road tour along Pamir Highway.
Tour destinations: | Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan
Itinerary duration: | 15 days / 14 nights
Tour itinerary: | Bishkek - Issyk-Kul Lake - Karakol - Son-Kul Lake - Kazarman Village - Uzgen - Osh - Lenin Peak Base Camp (BC) - Karakul Lake - Murghab - Langar - Ishkashim - Khorog - Kalai-Khumb - Kulob - Dushanbe |
The combined tour of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan provides an excellent opportunity to visit two mountainous countries on one trip and see the two famous mountain systems - the Tien Shan and Pamirs, which are very different from each other and beautiful in their own special way.
In Kyrgystan the travellers will visit the northern and southern parts of the country, including the Kyrgyz capital, famous Lake Son-Kul in the Tien Shan Mountains - a regional resort area with a well-developed infrastructure and unique natural attractions, Osh - the country’s ‘southern capital,’ and the Base Camp at the foot of Lenin Peak - a popular 7,000-metre mountain in the Pamirs.
The tour’s itinerary is highly logical: on the south Kyrgyzstan borders on Tajikistan and is linked with the latter by the Pamir Highway - the highest road in the territory of the former USSR placed by National Geographic among the world’s five most beautiful roads. This is the road the tourists will use to get to neighbouring Tajikistan and travel most of the country, where they will drive across a boundless and desolate high-altitude desert, get over a series of most picturesque mountain passes, including Ak-Baital (4,655 m) - the highest road pass in CIS, and visit a number of original settlements on the ‘roof of the world,’ including Murghab (3,600 m) - the highest town in Central Asia.
This group tour of two countries will certainly appeal to active travellers and fans of grandiose mountain landscapes!
