YURT CAMP AYDAR
Address:Konikhemskiy region, Nurata, Uzbekistan
Number of rooms: 11
The yurt camp ‘Aydar’is situated 7 km from the western shore of the Aydarkul (Aydar) Lake, in the Kyzylkum desert, near the village of Dongelek lost in sands, 60 km from the district centre Nurata (Uzbekistan).
Attractions in the neighbourhood:
- Aydar Lake. The huge mass of crystal clear water, the sand shores and the remoteness of the lake from large towns are the conditions quite favorable for fishing and birdwatching. The shores of the lake are a home for a great number of species of aquatic and semi-aquatic birds, many of which are included in the Red Book (Dalmatian pelican, little cormorant, black vulture and others). The transparent waters of Aydar Lake are inhabited by the European carp, wels (some specimens of which being truly gigantic), marinka, snakehead, zander, carp, asp and others. It is no surprise, then, that fishing in Aydar Lake is becoming increasingly popular among the guests of Uzbekistan.
- There are up to 25 plant species, fauna is also varied: turtles, lizards, pigeons, see-see partridges, hares. You can often see giant monitor lizards and of course, camels. Camels are domesticated and trained for riding. Two-humped camels are called Bactrian camels. Their range of population is in Central Asia, China, Mongolia. Meanwhile their closest relatives one-humped camels –dromedary-are popular in Asia Minor and Africa, and in Australian deserts.
- There are unique lakes near the camp, where local people still get salt by hand.
- You will be unforgettably impressed with visiting the lost-in-sands village. Till today local inhabitants have been keeping ancient traditions and lifestyle.
- On your way to the yurt camp you can visit the ‘ancient rock paintings gallery’ in the Sarmysh Gorge. More 3 000 pictures were discovered here. Here, on black basalt rocks-petroglyphs displaying animals, people, hunting scenes, lifestyle.
- A small town Nurata at the border of Nuratinskie mountains and the desert the tourists will be interested to see the place of pilgrimage at “Chashma” “holy” spring with more than one thousand “holy” fish swimming there. Here you can also see irrigation systems – kyarizes, up to now delivering underground waters from Nuratinskiy chain.
