Program
Korjenevskaya Peak is situated in the northern side of the Academy of Science Ridge, 13 km. far from Communism peak. The peak was discovered by Russian geographer N.Korjenevskiy on 23 August, 1910 and called after Evgeniya Korjenevskaya. Since 1927 name Korjenevskaya peak appeared officially on geographical maps. The first successful ascent to the peak was done in 22 August 1953. The group consisted of 8 alpinists under the leadership of A.Ugarov reached the top climbing along the Northern range.
Tactics of ascent
More then 10 routes of different difficulty lead to the top of Korjenevskaya Peak. So called "Ucharov"s Route" goes along the Northern Rib and is ranked amongst most complex routes to the Korjenevskaya Peak. Classic route goes along the southern ridge (so called "Tsetlin"s route").
Base Camp
The international mountaineering camp "Base Camp (4200 m)" is situated on Moskvina glade (between the glaciers of Moskvina and Valter at the foot of Vorobjev peak) at the height of 4200m. over sea level; on eastern bank terrace, on eastern glaciers of “Valter” and” Moskvina”.
Historical background
1936 - first ever attempt to ascend the Peak was made by Soviet mountaineers A.Djaparidze and N.Gusak. They reached the altitude of 6,200m. 1937 - D.Guschin + 3 persons reached the point 6,960m. Next expedition was organized only in 1953.
