The Lenin Peak (7,134 m) today is one of the most popular, easy of access and because of that most frequented peaks among 7,000m-odd summits of Pamir. It’s a common belief that the Lenin Peak is one of the easiest of the CIS’s four 7,000m-odd peaks to climb. To the certain extent that’s true but not in all. One should remember that the altitude over 7,000m makes the peak an object of high-altitude climbing. The route in itself is not a technically difficult one and normally is carried out by mountaineers climbing in a roped-up-pair manner.

"Khan-Tengry" - "The Master of the Sky" in Mongol language, from time immemorial is known to native local inhabitants, Kyrgyz, as "Kan-Too" - "Blood Mountain".

4. Expedition to Communism Peak

Communism Peak is the highest peak on the territory of former USSR; very impressive and well-known one, that is located in the Northern-West part of Pamir. The peak was discovered in 1928, during Soviet-German scientific expedition and at first till 1962 was called Stalin peak, then it was renamed as Communism Peak. In 1999 when Tajikistan became an independent state it was renamed again as Ismail Somoni peak, in honour of the founder of the first state of Tajiks (in X century).

5. Expedition to Korjenevskaya Peak

Korjenevskaya Peak is located in the Northern-West part of Pamir, 13 km far from Communism Peak. The peak was discovered by Russian scientist and geographer N. Korjenevskiy in 23rd of August in 1910 and was called in honour of the wife of the investigator - Evgeniya Korjenevskaya. The name Korjenevskaya Peak appeared on the geographical maps officially since 1927. The first successful ascent to the top was in 22nd of August in 1953.

6. Expedition to Muztag-Ata Peak

Easternmost boundary of the Pamir Uplands - the Kashgar Mountains - makes up a giant icy barrier cutting Pamirs off greatest desert of the Central Asia - the Taklamakan Desert.
