Yurt camp Aydar


Yurt camp “Aydar” is located 7 km from western side of Aydarkul lake, near lost in sand Dongelek village, in the heart of Kyzyl-Kum desert, 60 km from Nurat - small regional center. The camp was settled by the pioneer of camel-safari –relatively new tourism for Uzbekistan –Alexander Syrymov. 15-year work experience in this direction allowed him to thoroughly consider all peculiarities of organization of autonomy service in desert, including tourists’ and experts’ wishes.

Honestly speaking, nowadays this is the largest and most comfortable yurt camp in Uzbekistan.

The camp has 8 stationery placed holiday yurts (if necessary, 6 yurts can be added) richly decorated hand - made carpets and shrdaks by local artisans. Colored woven patterns and even chandeliers create extremely festive atmosphere in yurts. Yurt is a traditional house of Central Asian nomads, it has more than 3000-year history. The construction was constantly improved and reached its perfection. Yurt can be installed and reinstalled within 1 hour by a family and carried by 2 camels or horses. It’s warm in winter and cool in summer inside the yurt. It’s ecological as it’s made of plain natural materials of wood, beanpoles and felt made of sheep wool.

Daytime tourists walk around the camp, breaking the myths of desert’s lifelessness. There are up to 25 plant species, fauna is also varied: turtles, lizards, pigeons, see-see partridges, hares. You can often see giant monitor lizards and of course, camels. Camels are domesticated and trained for riding. Two-humped camels are called Bactrian camels. –Their range of population is in Central Asia, China, Mongolia. Meanwhile their closest relatives one-humped camels –dromedary-are popular in Asia Minor and Africa, and in Australian deserts.

Yurt camp is a starting point for fascinating and educational excursions around the region.

Тourists can make 1-2 hour camel tour to Aydarkul, the unique lake stretching for 250 km along the desert, try freshly hooked fish for a lunch, relax, swim in warm, slightly salted water and sun bath on the picturesque bank.

There are unique lakes near the camp, where local people still get salt by hand.

You will be unforgettably impressed with visiting the lost-in-sands village. Till today local inhabitants have been keeping ancient traditions and lifestyle.

By the way to the yurt camp you can visit “stone picture gallery” by the ancient men in Sarmysh hole. More 3 000 pictures were discovered herehHere, on black basalt rocks-petroglyphs displaying animals, people, hunting scenes, lifestyle and even love-making.

A small town at the border of Nuratinskie mountains and the desert the tourists will be interested to see the place of pilgrimage at “Chashma” “holy” spring with more than one thousand “holy” fish swimming there. Here you can also see irrigation systems – kyarizes, up to now delivering underground waters from Nuratinskiy chain.

Year to year the yurt camp becomes more and more popular, welcoming not only tourists from all over the world coming to see world-wide known monuments of Uzbekistan. Employees from embassies and international organizations, joint ventures and their guests are pleased to come here to rest and have a weekend escape far from civilization. Many of them bring their children discovering another, unknown world.
